Name: Airbus A330 (A330-200, A330-300)
Manufacturer: Airbus Industries Europe (France/Germany)
Main Role: High capacity, long range mainline jetliner
Basic design: Twin engined, double aisle wide body jet. Airframe based on the A300/A340.
Capacity: Roughly Between 255-295 passengers for A330-200, 295-335 for A330-300
Range: 8900km to 11800km for A330-200, 8300km to 10200km for A330-300
First delivery date: 1998 (A330-200), 1993 (A330-300)
Still in production in 2006: Yes
Easily confused for: Airbus A300, Boeing 767 & 777
Main idenifying points: Look for the "Airbus" cockpit windows, twin engines, No over wing emergency exit, 1 Single exit just past wing, large upward swept winglets & a classic Airbus tall tail & tailcone. When landing the main undercarriage hangs back on a steep angle and together with gracefully upswept wings looks like a giant bird coming to Earth... very distinctive and eye catching. Visually the -300 model is identical to the -200 except with a longer body and 4 main exits on each side not 3.
Examples of Main Operators: SAS, Air Canada, Korean Air, Northwest, US Airways, Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Garuda
